<その1>

Dear guests from Mozambique

Thank you for coming to Japan all over the long trip from Mozambique. We are glad to have such an important opportunity to listen to your opinion.

When I was a student at the university, I was an intern of the Japanese group called AJS, which has been working for the people who lived in BurkinaFaso in west Africa for about 20 years. During being an intern, I had luckily a chance to go to BurkinaFaso.
When I visited there, one of representatives of AJS, a japanese man, told me one important thing.

" the major role of this project are the people living in this country, BurkinaFaso. We have to remember that we, Japanese, are the people coming from abroad here."

So what is important is that we just have to support what the people there really want to do, not what we, supporters, want to do. Also we do not have to think what we can do for them, but we will have to think what they want us to do.

This time I remember this words, when I was at the seminar at Tokyo University.
I want to say it again, thank you for coming here and for us to have this great opportunity to listen to you.

You said that you came here because you believe we can solve this problem. I believe either. I shall try to do our best to get happier all together!

Dear honorable guests from Mozambique

I hope for your safe trip to your country after a long journey.

First of all, we really appreciate for your coming to Japan and your appeal to the problems on JICA's Prosavana project.

As you might notice, not all ODA projects in Japan are well analyzed and evaluated before and even after implementation.

Moreover, since not much information is given and open to public, we don't have enough evidence or information source to judge how the programmes are implemented and how much impact (especially negative) given to the locals.

That's why the seminars of this time, I think, was very important to the society of Japan, as you yourself made claim in front of public as "living evidence".

Even though you might be confused that JICA and MOFA didn't apparently respond well at the place, the seminars gave us much "real" information and awareness to people in Japan, who now are able to start evaluating and analyzing the project with the information given, as "trigger".

I hope that you enjoyed the stay and didn't regret coming to Japan, and please remember that we will always welcome you coming again to Japan ( but hope not because of the same topic,,,)
